"So, what did you do last Sunday afternoon?" "Oh, not much. How 'bout you?" "Well, we set fire to a house and watched it burn to the ground."
This is literally what we got to do a couple of Sundays ago, on March 6th, in Hart. One of the farmers that we go to church with out there had some land that he wanted to start farming, but it had an old house on it that had to go. So, we helped him take care of that problem. In the photo gallery we have added an album with 21 pictures chronicling the fascinating process (if you don't find this interesting, I hope you've never claimed to be a pyro!).
It was our last official Sunday as AIM assistants in Hart, so it was a very bittersweet day that marked a transition in our lives. We will continue to cherish the friendships and encouragement that we have with the brothers and sisters in Christ there in Hart. And, I gotta say, I never would have imagined that on my last Sunday as an assistant, I would get to burn down a house. What a way to go out.
It's been a long time since we've sent out any kind of mass-communication update of our news. One of the reasons I started this website is so that we can keep people informed on a more ongoing basis, rather than a large newsletter every month or two or six.
Since we're playing catch-up, I'll try to cover the most major news in one big post below... but in the future, you can plan on there being more frequent news in smaller doses posted here on a regular basis.
Finally, and perhaps the most important info in this post: I would encourage you to create an account on this site that includes the preference to receive notifications from us. This way, anytime we post any significant news or updates, you will get a quick and simple email letting you know.
What do you think of this idea? Let me know by posting comments to this story (using the "comments?" link below).
In case you're wondering about the picture that (for now, at least) I chose for the header graphic on this site, you can see the full photo and read more about it here.
